Consulting Rooms
Each of our doctors has a private consulting room on the premises. Each consulting room is equipped with all of the necessary tools for examining a patient.
Sphygmomanometers for blood pressure reading, scales, otoscopes and examination beds are standard in all of the rooms.
Emergency Room
Our emergency room is equipped to deal with most medical emergencies. Our Electrocardiogram machine (ECG) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) are on hand for emergency resuscitation procedures.
We are also capable of stabilising Myocardial Infractions (heart attacks), Strokes and Trauma Patients before they are transported to specialised care facilities.
Surgery
Our practice boasts four procedure rooms, where minor operative procedures can be done, and includes a diathermy machine. We readily excise lumps and bumps, as well as mole and skin cancer removal.
We have facilities for the treatment of acute and old trauma, including suturing of wounds and reduction of fractures. We also offer intra-articular injections if needed as well as cryo-therapy for sun spots and warts, and a Fundoscope for early detection of systemic diseases.
Home Visits
All of our Doctors provide home visit services in and around the Howick area.
Excepting in the case of an emergency, Home Visits are usually scheduled during lunch hours and can be arranged through one of our receptionists on 033 330 3359
Nurse’s Clinic
Our resident nurses have a wealth of experience and training in their respective disciplines and offer a variety of services, such as:
Blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, urine testing, pregnancy tests , vaccinations, ear syringing, drips, injections, wound dressings, stitch removals, or plaster of paris cast removals.
Travel Clinic
We provide vaccinations for children, travelling, yellow fever, rabies, tetanus, influenza, pneumonia and shingles.
Women’s Health Clinic
Appointments can be made to see her for any gynaecological or hormone related treatment.
Economic Clinic
We run an Economical Clinic that is strictly reserved for patients without any form of medical aid or hospital plan.
Our rates are competitive as this is a community service project which we provide to help those who do not have easy access to treatment.
Hospital Admissions & Operations
Our doctors are registered with the Howick Mediclinic group and facilitate care in these facilities.
We also assist General, Orthopaedic and Gynaecological procedures on our patients in both Howick Mediclinic as well as Hilton Life Hospital.
Prescription Requests
- Fill in the prescription request form in writing (not on the telephone)
- State your name, telephone number, drug, dosage and duration
- Please provide clear, separate list for each patient or script request
- Include the appropriate Doctor’s name on the form
- Wait 24 to 48 hours for the prescription to be processed
- Collect at the front desk or from a requested pharmacy
- Script requests can be emailed to info@howickdoc.com
Please note that there is a fee charged for repeat prescriptions.
